Amazon expands into Mexico with biggest international launch yet: Rich McCormick at The Verge reports Amazon has officially launched in Mexico, offering more categories than any other international Amazon website has featured at launch, in what the American e-retailer says is its biggest international launch ever. The site’s official launch comes two years after Amazon started selling ebooks via its Kindle store in the country, testing the Mexican market’s willingness to buy items online. That market has grown over the past few years: Billboard cites a Comscore report that says e-commerce sales in Mexico rose from $9.2 billion in 2013 to $12.2 billion in 2014. Continue reading…

Amazon Prime Now launches one-hour delivery in London: Katie Collins at Wired UK reports that Amazon has introduced a one-hour delivery on over 10,000 items to Prime Members in the UK. Using the dedicated Prime Now mobile app, users can order a variety of goods, including food, drink and home essentials to their addresses and have them delivered in less than 60 minutes. “Millions of customers across London can use the Prime Now app today and discover over ten thousand items for one-hour delivery, or select a free two-hour, same-day delivery slot,” said Christopher North, MD for Amazon UK. Amazon to offer loans to sellers in China plus seven other countries: Nandita Bose at Reuters UK reports that Amazon.com Inc will launch its business loan program for small sellers later this year in eight more countries including China, where credit is becoming a key factor in competing for new vendors and grabbing market share. Until now, the e-retailer has offered the service only in the United States and Japan. Amazon Lending, founded in 2012, now plans to offer short-term working capital loans in Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. Continue reading…

Amazon marketplace EU release seller app: Chris Dawson at Tamebay reports that Amazon this week introduced the Amazon Seller mobile app to help sellers manage their business on Amazon on-the-go via smartphones and tablets. The app is available on Android and iOS and works on Amazon UK and across European Marketplace platforms in France, Germany, Italy and Spain. The app makes it easier for sellers to quickly update inventory, source and list new items on Marketplace and respond to customer enquiries on the move. Continue reading…

Pinterest doubles its UK users thanks to DIY, cookery and gardening: Stuart Dredge at The Guardian reports that the social media platform Pinterest has doubled its number of users in the UK in the past year as Britons “pinned” 1.6 billion items with DIY and recipes among their favourite topics. The US-based visual bookmarking site launched in 2010 before launching British-English version in 2013. According to Pinterest, its users are particularly keen on DIY, with 52% looking for that, while 46% search for recipes. In terms of building their own boards, 37% are planning home decorations, 17% a holiday and 14% a wedding. Continue reading…

Kanye West’s sold-out Yeezy sneakers appear on eBay for upwards of $10,000 – 50 TIMES the original cost: Erica Tempesta at The Daily Mail reports that Adidas sports shoes designed by Kanye West which sold out in the US in 15 minutes are now being flogged on eBay for $10,000 a pair. The 38-year-old’s Yeezy Boost 350 sneakers are now selling for upwards of $10,000 dollars on eBay after the athletic shoes, which originally retailed for $200 a pair, sold out in the US just 15 minutes after going on sale.
