On Tuesday this week, Amazon launched the Amazon Giveaway, a self-service tool which allows individuals or brands to run a giveaway contest on the Amazon.com platform. This is currently only available in the US and there is currently no indication from the ecommerce giant whether this tool will be rolled out to other countries.
How does Amazon Giveaway work?
The concept is pretty simple if you want to host a contest to giveaway an Amazon product.
You simply find the prize within Amazon’s extensive inventory, complete a two-step wizard to set-up your giveaway, design your giveaway page, place your order and you then receive a unique link which you can share with entrants via email or social media.
Entry is fun and entrants will find out instantly if they’ve won a prize or not.
What prizes can l give away?
The list of eligible prizes can be found through the Amazon website. A brand or individual can give away up to 50 prizes for a total value of $5,000.
Amazon runs the giveaway, notifies winners, handles shipping and tax reporting. All the brand or individual running the giveaway competition has to do, is stump up the hard cash to pay for the prize.
Shure fire winner
Steve Shure, VP of consumer marketing said, “Amazon Giveaway is the first self-service tool that takes care of all the hard work of a giveaway, from setting up all of the rules to shipping prizes directly to winners.”
“The idea of running giveaway promotions is easy. They are a really effective way to attract attention and build engagement, but giveaways often come with hidden costs and complexities, which make the reality of running one hard,”
